Supporting Our Mission
The future starts here
By becoming an anchor donor, you will help create more than a new facility. You will become a partner in building the future resilience of a globally important industry. With more than a century of brewing and distilling expertise, Heriot-Watt is a trusted convener for industry, bringing together heritage, science, talent and partnership to support the sector’s future.
The £35 million funding model for the Centre for Sustainable Brewing and Distilling reflects the scale and ambition of what we are seeking to create: a world-class facility for research, teaching, enterprise and industry collaboration.
Each element of the funding mix supports a critical part of the Centre’s purpose, from advanced brewing, distilling, malting and R&D facilities to specialist equipment, shared teaching and enterprise space, commercialisation areas, external plant infrastructure and a dedicated archive celebrating Heriot-Watt’s heritage in brewing and distilling. By supporting this vision, donors and partners can help create the specialist environment the sector needs to test new ideas, strengthen productivity, develop talent and build long-term resilience.

“ Your support will create a lasting legacy, not only at Heriot-Watt University but across the entire global brewing and distilling community. Together, we can address the urgent challenges facing the industry, from sustainability to talent development, while driving innovation that sets new standards across the globe. By contributing to the Centre for Sustainable Brewing and Distilling, you are investing in a resilient future where excellence, responsibility, and progress define the sector for generations to come. ”
Professor Chris Turney, Deputy Principal (Research and Impact), Heriot-Watt University
